PROMPT FRAMEWORKS

Get better prompt output by structuring your prompts:

  • RTF – role, task, format
  • CTF – context, task, format
  • RASCEF – role, action, steps, context, examples, format

The best two methods for prompting:

  • Megaprompts – Write one giant message that contains all of the above such as for an article or a press release, etc.
  • Chaining – Break down the task into smaller steps such as start with asking for a blog post idea, then asking for an outline to use in that post, then finally ask for each section of content separately

TONES

Use either “Tone should be ___ ” or “Please write using a ___ tone”

  • Conversational
  • Lighthearted
  • Persuasive
  • Spartan
  • Formal
  • Firm

FORMAT

  • Be concise and minimize excess prose
  • Use less corporate jargon
  • Output as bullet points in short sentences
  • Output as a table with the following columns ” [x], [y], [z]”
  • Be very detailed with your response

MISC. TIPS

Encouragement gets better output:
“You are a leading expert in the field of ___”

Reprimand gets better output:
“This is not what I asked for, please regenerate this response with the following information”

If the output is not what was expected, try adding more details or background information:
“Let’s try this again and this time make sure to specifically include the following”

Adjust the temperature of the response:
“Add Temprature: X to the prompt with a one being more creative and a zero making it far more conservative (think academic or formal)”

EXAMPLE PROMPTS

Example context (attach BEFORE the prompt:
“I run a small local garden center and nursery called “Boston Blooms” in Cambridge. We sell mostly annuals since we ARE a flower shop but do have a limited supply of perennials that we sell as well. Our brand is lighthearted, entertaining, engaging, and timely for the seasons.”

  2. Come up with a 10 day email sequence based on the next two holidays where flowers are traditionally sent.
  3. Write a new landing page header for our soon to launch “Floral Service for Area Weddings”. Please generate 10 ideas and make sure the fit the proper tone and voice for our company.

Please create a job description for each and please note that the driver will need a clean driving record, current drivers license, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  6. We will need to increase growth by at least 15% this year to keep our targets in line, can you please generate some relevant growth strategies we should be thinking about?
